Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead

OverviewSchedule: Overnight Position (11p-7:30A) with rotating weekends and holidays

Under general supervision performs complex analyses on a variety of sample types, utilizing independent judgment to generate acceptable test results. Performs as lead by managing workflow, mentoring others and serving as a clinical and technical resource. Key Responsibilities

• Independently performs responsibilities of MLS I, MLS II and MLS III.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives as a member of a multi-disciplinary patient care services team. Develops and leads efforts to improve regulatory compliance within and beyond the department.
• Assists leadership team with interviewing, orienting, training and supervising. Provides input to leadership team for performance evaluations and corrective actions.
• Collaborates with leadership in identifying gaps and opportunities for professional development and strategic organizational initiatives. Facilitates in creating a positive departmental culture.
• Assists leadership in identification and resolution of complex clinical and operational issues.
• Responsible for regulatory and accreditation agency preparation and participation.
• Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.

*Work Experience * Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences and minimum of three years' experience in a clinical laboratory required or; an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, or completion of Military Laboratory Technology with a minimum of five years of experience. *Experience: *Three years' experience in clinical laboratory required with a Bachelor's degree, or five years of experience in a clinical laboratory with an Associate's degree or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program required. Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.
