City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to K-12 students in partnership with teachers Lead small-group and one-on-one sessions in math, literacy, and other core subjects Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Support classroom management and create an encouraging, inclusive learning environment Communicate regularly with students, teachers, and City Year team members Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage in school-wide activities and events that promote student success Model professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to social justice Support attendance and behavior initiatives that promote student engagement Collaborate with teammates to address student needs and share best practices Tutoring in math Tutoring in literacy/ELA Lesson planning support Classroom management support Student data tracking Progress monitoring Use of online learning tools Small-group instruction Documentation & reporting Basic MS Office/Google Workspace Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (e.g., citizenship or permanent residency, background check) Experience working or volunteering with youth strongly preferred Basic proficiency in math and literacy content at the K-12 level Ability to commit to a full-time school-year schedule5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
