City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to K–12 students Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, motivation, and confidence Support teachers with classroom activities, small groups, and transitions Track and report student progress using established tools and templates Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates to plan interventions Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage families and school community in supporting student success Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Lesson reinforcement and homework support Academic progress monitoring Classroom support and behavior management Small-group instruction Student mentoring and coaching Data entry and basic progress reporting Collaboration with teachers and staff Basic educational technology use Cultural competency and DEI awareness Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (including citizenship requirements) Ability to pass required background checks for working in schools Interest or coursework in education, youth development, or social sciences preferred Bilingual skills a plus Prior experience with tutoring or mentoring youth preferred but not required5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
