City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects, especially literacy and math Collaborate with classroom teachers to support lesson goals and reinforce instruction Monitor and document student progress, attendance, and engagement data Mentor students in goal-setting, study habits, and social-emotional skills Support classroom management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment Assist with in-class support, homework help, and test preparation Help plan and lead enrichment, attendance, and after-school programs Communicate with school staff and City Year teammates to coordinate student support Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Model City Year’s values of service, equity, and inclusivity in all interactions Academic tutoring (literacy and math) Classroom support techniques Student progress monitoring and documentation Behavior management and positive reinforcement Lesson and activity planning Data entry and basic data analysis Educational technology and online learning tools Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Cultural competence and working with diverse youth Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Teaching credential (optional but preferred) Tutoring certification (e.g., CRLA) preferred Prior experience with youth or education programs Background check clearance AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
