City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and behavior management Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive habits Track and report student progress using established tools Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates on support plans Participate in training, coaching, and professional development Engage families and stakeholders to support student success Model inclusive, equity-focused practices aligned with City Year’s mission Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Lesson planning and academic support Classroom support and behavior management Student progress monitoring and documentation Mentoring and social-emotional coaching Small-group facilitation Use of educational technology tools Data-informed instruction Family and teacher communication Time management and organization Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (including citizenship requirements) Background check clearance required by AmeriCorps and school district Experience working with youth or in educational settings preferred Familiarity with K-12 curriculum standards is a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
