City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to middle and high school students Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, motivation, and confidence Support teachers with small-group instruction and classroom activities Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff Communicate with students, families, and staff to support student success Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and leadership development Model inclusive, culturally responsive, and youth-centered practices Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Small-group instruction Lesson planning support Student data tracking and progress monitoring Classroom management support Mentoring and social-emotional coaching Family and teacher communication Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Time management and organization Cultural responsiveness and DEI awareness Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Background check eligibility for school-based service Ability to meet AmeriCorps and City Year service requirements CPR/First Aid certification (preferred, can often be obtained after hire) Experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
