City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to K–12 students in math and literacy Support classroom instruction through small-group and one-on-one support Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with teachers and City Year team to plan interventions Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment Serve as a role model, building strong, consistent relationships with students Communicate with school staff and families as needed to support student success Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development Tutoring in math Tutoring in English/ELA Small-group instruction Classroom management Student progress monitoring Use of formative assessments Basic data entry and reporting Educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom) Lesson reinforcement and homework help Communication with teachers and families Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required Experience working with youth (tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp, or after-school) preferred Ability to pass required background checks Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member, if applicable Strong commitment to educational equity and public service5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
