As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve in public schools to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring, lead homework and enrichment activities, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers. You will model positive behavior, build trusted relationships, and promote an inclusive, equitable classroom climate. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers Track and report student progress and attendance data Build positive, mentoring relationships with students Promote social-emotional learning and positive behavior Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs Facilitate homework help and enrichment activities Support whole-school events and family engagement activities Use educational technology tools to support learning and data tracking Participate in City Year training, coaching, and team meetings Tutoring in math and reading Classroom support and management Student progress monitoring and data entry Use of educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom) Lesson and activity planning support Communication with teachers and school staff Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic behavior management strategies Time management and organization Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Previous experience working with youth (tutoring, mentoring, camp, or after-school programs) Completion or enrollment in a college degree program Background check clearance Basic training in child or youth development (preferred) Experience with educational technology platforms (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
