As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, providing academic and social-emotional support to students. You’ll tutor in core subjects, lead small-group interventions, and mentor students to build attendance, engagement, and confidence. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and help run after-school and enrichment programs. City Year offers robust training, coaching, and leadership development in a collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on educational equity and student success. Provide in-class support and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging Monitor student attendance, engagement, and progress; share updates with school staff Assist teachers with classroom activities, behavior support, and learning interventions Plan and facilitate after-school or enrichment programs and homework help sessions Build positive relationships with students, families, and school partners Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Collect and record data on student performance and intervention outcomes Support school-wide events, initiatives, and positive school climate efforts Collaborate within a diverse AmeriCorps team to advance educational equity Academic tutoring (math, English, or reading) Youth mentoring and relationship-building Classroom behavior management support Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Communication with teachers and school staff Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Facilitation of small groups and activities Time management and organization Basic technology skills (email, spreadsheets, online learning tools) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Background check clearance for work with youth Experience working or volunteering with K-12 students (preferred) Spanish or other second language proficiency (preferred) Basic tutoring or mentoring training (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
