City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support in math and ELA under teacher guidance Offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring to students Support student attendance, engagement, and positive behavior initiatives Build trusting relationships with students, teachers, and school staff Assist with planning and facilitating after-school and enrichment programs Track and document student progress and intervention activities Participate in regular training, coaching, and professional development Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to support school-wide goals Engage families and community partners as appropriate to support students Model City Year’s values of service, inclusion, and social justice Tutoring in math and English language arts Classroom support and management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress monitoring Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork in diverse groups Conflict de-escalation and problem-solving Basic computer skills (Google Workspace or MS Office) Facilitation of small groups and activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Must meet AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in schools TB test or health clearance as required by district Completion of City Year pre-service training Proof of high school diploma or equivalent COVID-19 vaccination if required by local regulations5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
