As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve in public schools to provide targeted academic and social-emotional support to students. In this full-time role, you will tutor small groups and individual students in core subjects, help track their progress, and reinforce classroom learning. You will also build strong, positive relationships, serving as a mentor and role model, and help lead enrichment activities and after-school programs. Working on a diverse, mission-driven team, you’ll receive training, coaching, and professional development while making a direct impact on students’ success and school climate. Provide individual and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects during and/or after school Support teachers in the classroom by reinforcing lessons and managing small group activities Monitor, track, and report on student progress and engagement using provided tools Build trusting, mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members about student needs Help plan and facilitate enrichment, after-school, and homework support programs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate and model professional behavior Engage families and caregivers when appropriate to support student success Support school-wide events, initiatives, and service projects as needed Tutoring in math Tutoring in reading and writing Classroom support and small-group facilitation Youth mentoring and relationship-building Behavior management and student engagement Progress monitoring and basic data tracking Communication with students, staff, and families Cultural competence and inclusivity Time management and organization Basic educational technology and e-learning tools Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Prior experience working with youth in educational or mentoring settings Background check and clearance to work in K–12 schools AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable to program structure) Basic training in tutoring or youth development (preferred, can be acquired on the job)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
