City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to students in partnership with classroom teachers Deliver small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects Support students’ social-emotional learning and positive behavior Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs Build positive, consistent relationships with students and families Collaborate with school staff and fellow AmeriCorps members on service plans Track student progress and document interventions and outcomes Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and leadership development Support school-wide events, service projects, and community engagement Uphold City Year and AmeriCorps service and professionalism standards Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Youth mentoring Basic lesson and activity planning Behavior management and de-escalation Data entry and progress monitoring Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Time management and organization Cultural competence and equity-focused practice Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (meets citizenship requirements and background check) Ability to pass criminal background checks required for work in schools Basic tutoring or youth mentoring experience preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
