City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. Provide in-class academic support alongside teachers Lead small-group and one-on-one tutoring sessions in core subjects Build positive, mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Encourage and track student attendance and engagement Support classroom management and positive behavior systems Collect and track data on student progress and participation Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs Assist with after-school or enrichment programs and school events Engage families and community partners in student success activities Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and team meetings Tutoring and academic support (reading and math) Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Basic computer and office software use (e.g., Google Workspace or MS Office) Communication and presentation skills Conflict de-escalation and behavior support techniques Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork in school settings Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for work in public schools TB test or health clearance as required by local school district Completion of City Year pre-service training program5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
