City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring to students Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions Help plan and lead afterschool and enrichment programs Track and report student progress and intervention data Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates on student support plans Build positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote a positive climate Uphold City Year and AmeriCorps service standards and policies Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Youth mentoring and relationship-building Behavior management and de-escalation Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (verbal and written) Team collaboration Time management and organization Cultural competency and equity-focused practice Basic computer and office software skills Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (citizenship or legal residency) Ability to pass background checks required for school-based service Some experience working with youth in educational or community settings preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
