City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support and small-group tutoring in core subjects to help students meet academic goals Build trusting, supportive relationships with students to encourage engagement and positive behavior Support teachers with classroom activities, lesson implementation, and progress monitoring Plan and lead afterschool programs, enrichment activities, and homework help Track and report student progress, attendance, and engagement using City Year tools and guidelines Collaborate with City Year teammates, school staff, and partners to support whole-school initiatives Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and leadership development sessions Engage families and community members through outreach and school events Uphold City Year’s values around equity, inclusion, and social justice in daily service Maintain professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality in a school-based environment Small-group instruction/tutoring Classroom support and management Student mentoring and relationship building Basic data tracking and reporting Communication with diverse students and families Collaboration and teamwork Youth development practices Time management and organization Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Use of educational technology and office tools (e.g., Google Suite, MS Office) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (citizenship or permanent resident status, background check) Experience working or volunteering with youth in school or community settings preferred Commitment to a full-time service term with City Year5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
