City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class and after-school tutoring in core academic subjects Lead small-group and one-on-one interventions to support struggling students Build positive, consistent relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Encourage and track student attendance and engagement in school Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom instruction Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom and school climate Collect and document student data to monitor progress and inform interventions Support school-wide events, enrichment activities, and family engagement efforts Participate in City Year trainings, coaching, and leadership development sessions Model City Year’s values of service, equity, and professionalism in the school community Academic tutoring (reading, writing, math) Classroom support and student supervision Youth mentoring and relationship building Behavior management and positive reinforcement strategies Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Collaboration with teachers and school staff Facilitation of small groups and activities Basic computer skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets, data systems) Time management and organizational skills Cultural competency and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Completion of City Year pre-service and ongoing training Demonstrated commitment to national service or community service Fluency in English; bilingual skills a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
