City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support to students during and after class Support classroom management and engagement under the direction of the teacher Monitor and encourage student attendance, behavior, and engagement Facilitate social-emotional learning activities and mentoring check-ins Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs Collect and track basic student progress data as directed by school and City Year staff Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and teammates to support school-wide initiatives Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage families and community partners at school events and outreach activities Uphold AmeriCorps and City Year service standards and policies Tutoring and academic support Classroom support and management assistance Youth mentoring Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Time management and reliability Conflict de-escalation and problem-solving Cultural competency and equity-focused practice Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, virtual meeting platforms) Medical Insurance Must be at least 18 years old U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (for AmeriCorps eligibility) Ability to pass background check required by AmeriCorps and school district Commitment to full 10–12 month AmeriCorps service term Bilingual skills a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
