Critical access hospital serving Western North Carolina

• 17 hospital beds | 5 ED beds
• ~10,000 annual ED visits (~25 patients/day)
• Level IV Trauma designation
• ~1 patient per hour
• Full support services onsite:
  • 24/7 Radiology
  • 24/7 Lab
  • 24/7 Respiratory Therapy

Practice Environment

Solo provider model

• No in-house backup physician
• Supported by experienced APP team (3 PAs, 1 MD in program)
• Requires independent decision-making and full-spectrum care

This is not a high-volume ED—but it is a high-responsibility environment

Clinical Scope

Dual-role coverage including:

• Emergency Medicine:
  • Acute care across all age groups (pediatrics required)
  • Trauma stabilization
  • Procedures and resuscitation
• Hospitalist Responsibilities:
  • Swing bed / rehab patient management
  • Admissions, discharges, and daily rounding
  • ~2–3 inpatient encounters per day

Candidate Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible:

• ABEM / AOBEM
• ABFM (with EM experience)

Must have experience in BOTH:

• Emergency Medicine
• Hospitalist / inpatient care
• Minimum 3+ years clinical experience
• Prior solo provider experience strongly preferred
• Active North Carolina license (required at submission)
• Certifications required: ACLS, ATLS, PALS, BLS
• DEA required
