The Clinical Coordinator RN is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs/activities based on assessed learning needs of staff. The incumbent works collaboratively with unit supervisors in assessing, developing and maintaining staff's competencies to ensure provision of quality nursing care. Demonstrates leadership through developing and coordinating programs to improve quality of care and organizational processes. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for promoting quality nursing care of patients in the long term care setting. Responsibilities include the utilization of advanced, specialized clinical skills in the area of patient care, patient and family health education, nursing research, quality improvement, consultation and staff education. As a change agent, the incumbent promotes an environment that embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Fundamental aspects of the Clinical Coordinator role include: leadership in the care of residents; standardization of care; identification, delegation and oversight of care delivery and outcomes. The Clinical Coordinator refines data systems to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing or Master's in a related field with a BSN (NLN accredited or regionally accredited college or university); approximately three years of successful nursing practice, two years of which includes progressive leadership role, or Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field from a regionally accredited university or college (preferred); approximately three years of successful nursing practice, two years of which includes progressive leadership role. The incumbent will be self-directed, able to work independently in the field and actively participate in the interdisciplinary team process and must have a positive attitude and be committed to VA's mission of serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans. Work Schedule: 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM with rotation to Weekends, Holidays and Nights. Incumbent will be expected to work at least 1 weekend per month.
