City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support through tutoring and small-group instruction Build positive, supportive relationships with students as a mentor and role model Support teachers with classroom management and learning activities Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs Track and report student progress and participation data Collaborate with school staff and City Year team members on student support strategies Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Support school-wide events and positive school climate initiatives Communicate regularly with supervisors about student progress and service goals Model City Year’s values of service, inclusivity, and social justice Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (verbal and written) Team collaboration Time management and organization Conflict de-escalation and problem-solving Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Facilitation of group activities or lessons Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for working in schools Completed City Year/AmeriCorps pre-service training5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
