As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you will work full-time in partner schools to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In collaboration with teachers, you’ll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring, in-class support, and mentoring that builds students’ confidence and engagement. You will track progress, use data to inform support, and help create an inclusive, positive classroom climate. City Year offers training, coaching, and a collaborative culture rooted in social justice, leadership development, and personal growth. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects (e.g., literacy, math). Support classroom instruction through in-class assistance and behavior support. Build positive, mentoring relationships that foster students’ social-emotional growth and school engagement. Monitor and document student progress using data and reporting tools. Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align tutoring with classroom goals. Assist with homework help, study skills, and test preparation sessions. Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions. Support school-wide initiatives, events, and after-school or enrichment activities. Communicate regularly with team members to coordinate student support strategies. Model inclusive, equity-focused practices consistent with City Year’s mission.
