Jefferson Township Public Schools Secretary III Home Instruction

10-MONTH, PART-TIME, TENURE TRACK POSITION

Requirements: High school diploma required, post secondary study preferred.

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrate ability to work successfully with children and adults and to perform assigned duties. Physical capacity to perform duties.

Job Goals: Fulfill specific functions and initiate leadership to create an efficient and effective office environment.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Greets visitors and public in a respectful and courteous manner maintaining required security procedures.
  • Accepts incoming mail, deliveries and packages, sorting and routing to appropriate recipients, including school/office supplies.
  • Receives, screens and directs incoming phone calls, and maintains a reliable log of all calls received.
  • Assists parents, staff and students when assigned to a school.
  • Facilitates and directs parents, staff and students in regard to specific department and/or school issues.
  • Processes regular and periodic confidential and evaluative typing of personnel performance assessments and correspondence.
  • Processes regular and periodic confidential documentation for local, state and national reports as assigned.
  • Compiles and maintains organizational database.
  • Types, files and performs other related office tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to the content of information received and/or processed.

Salary: Following established JTEA Salary Guide ranging from $27.64$36.51/hour, commensurate with experience

Benefits: Not eligible for medical benefits. Sick, Personal, Family Illness, and Vacation days are included.

RESIDENCY LAW: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (P.L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," effective September 1, 2011, all newly hired public employees, including public school district employees must reside in the State of New Jersey, unless exempted under the law. If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date of hire to relocate your residence to New Jersey. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your position in New Jersey.
