Job Description
The VP, Customer Engagement Strategy and Transformation will set the strategy and execution of the global Customer Engagement Strategy for J&J Innovative Medicine. Responsibilities include defining use cases, identifying fit-for-purpose capabilities, scaling these across therapeutic areas, and operationalizing next‑generation engagement solutions across the Global Commercial Strategy Organization. The leader will steer engagement strategy across regions and functions, influence budget and delivery, and govern implementation to ensure efficient, synergistic, and effective outcomes.
Key duties span all therapeutic areas and functions, partnering with legal, privacy, R&D and other cross‑functional teams. The VP will shape critical business processes, partner with marketing and medical leaders, secure executive alignment, and jointly manage a global transformation budget of $140 million, evaluating ROI, NPV, and IRR. Reporting directly to the Chief Global Commercial Data and AI Officer.
You Will Be Responsible For
- Setting and leading enterprise‑wide strategy for global customer engagement transformation, establishing priorities, standardization, and investment focus.
- Owning the global product strategy and roadmap for engagement capabilities, ensuring consistency while enabling regional flexibility.
- Driving executive alignment on end‑to‑end engagement models, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Chairing governance forums, including the Customer Engagement Steering Committee and other decision bodies, to mandate priorities and drive execution.
- Shaping the future‑state engagement ecosystem, propelling initiatives such as One Line of Sight, Customer 360, and migration to CONNEXT.
- Leading global deployment and adoption of content management and other strategic capabilities, accountable for implementation effectiveness and business value.
- Managing an organization of senior directors and directors, building leadership capability and ensuring execution across the matrixed environment.
- Overseeing the external partner ecosystem, including Salesforce, Veeva, cloud providers, and data layer partners, to drive innovation and enterprise‑scale capability.
- Providing thought leadership and representing J&J in industry forums to shape the future engagement agenda.
Qualifications / Requirements
Candidate must demonstrate enterprise leadership and the ability to shape and execute global strategy across a highly matrixed organization. Success requires a proven track record of large‑scale transformation, strategic decision making, and cross‑functional alignment at VP or C‑suite levels.
- BA/BS; MS/MBA; PhD preferred.
- 15+ years of experience leading global, enterprise‑wide transformation, product strategy, and cross‑functional business capability deployment.
- Extensive pharmaceutical, biotech, or life science experience with deep expertise in customer engagement and enterprise capability deployment.
- Demonstrated success leading global transformation programs with measurable outcomes.
- Strong experience in commercial, medical, R&D, and enabling functions, driving alignment and decision making across a complex stakeholder landscape.
- Proven ability to establish global strategy and governance models that balance standardization with local needs.
- Experience managing large‑scale external partner ecosystems and vendor relationships.
- Executive communication and facilitation skills, simplifying complex issues to drive decisions and stakeholder alignment.
- Ability to operate across geographies and time zones; travel up to 25% domestic and international.

Compensation
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $218,000.00 – $401,350.00.
