• Checkerboard Area Health System has 5 clinics that are covered by all providers. Every effort is made to maintain consistent coverage at all 5 clinics, so providers may only be placed at 2 or 3 locations per week. Cuba, NM is a small town approximately 80 northwest of Bernalillo, NM. Very rural with lots of outdoor activities available. Hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. Many walking trails have been developed for use by community members by a local provider and his team. Two of the clinics are located on the Navajo reservation with a 4th clinic being primarily Navajo but not on the Navajo reservation.
