Sr. Director, Conduent Labs or a Conduent Labs Site
The Senior Director of Conduent Labs, or a Conduent Labs site is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and execution of research strategies that extend Conduent’s leadership as the premier technology-led Business Process Services Company. This leader will collaborate with senior managers from across the company to drive research strategy, planning, and/or initiating projects and research collaborations in support of the business’ strategic goals. The Sr Director will organize, nurture, and lead a diverse team of researchers and technologists with skills spanning analytics, block chain, big data systems, process optimization, machine learning, computer vision, statistics, system architecture, ethnography, and distributed software systems. This leader will be responsible for ensuring that the Lab’s projects have high-return for the business and create new differentiation and automation opportunities for the business to launch. Application domains include: smart cities and transportation systems, health care analytics, human resources and benefits program, legal process, public safety, and operations.
This leader has the opportunity to greatly influence the technical strategy of a $7B enterprise.

Responsible for all areas of research & development engineering. Includes R&D studies, mathematical modeling, design, evaluation, analyses, programming, testing, and Proof of Concept field trials / evaluation.
Lead a team of highly skilled professionals by generating a vision, establishing direction, creating an atmosphere of trust and empowerment, leveraging diverse views, coaching staff, and encouraging improvement and innovative thinking.
Serve as the primary liaison with multiple Strategic Business Units and Corporate Functions by leveraging objectivity, perspective and expertise in support business priorities.
Define a future state vision and value proposition for possible client solutions and customer experiences.
Proactively identifies, defines, and sole the most complex problems that impact the direction of the business.
Create an environment of continual learning where team members are expected to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field by continuous learning and proactively champion promising new methods relevant to the problems at hand. They may proactively identify new areas of research and develop value-based proposals for investments in those areas.

Create an environment where researchers will collaborate with external academic and research institutions across the country in targeted projects at MS and PhD level.
The capture of intellectual property and journal and conference publications are also expected by the team
Personally manage Special Projects and the development of technology solutions as required
Support the development of client roadmaps, program plans, business cases, and realization strategies to support recommended technology and offering strategies.
Manage the end to end technical, business and personnel aspects of a technical organization.
Cultivate highly functioning teams comprised of excellent technical contributors; the ability to effectively manage the engagement while recognizing and leveraging the expertise of the different resources and the importance of their contributions is critical.
Ensure deliverables are of the highest quality and ensure robust understanding of the technology and latitudes delivered to internal clients.
Support Proposal and pitch development, creation, and presentation to clients
Participate on client engagement steering committees as necessary to set client expectations and issue and resolution management.
Support the develop sales collateral including client presentations, case studies, and key strategic positions
Develop thought leadership and content marketing for blogs, guides, webinars, and conferences
Advanced degree(s) in relevant engineering or sciences (MS or Ph.D.) and management (MBA) preferred.
Ten (10) years of successful strategic and/or operational management experience at a senior level.
Management experience in a research environment with at least 50 employees, where operational and capital budget oversight was a key responsibility.
Strong technical expertise with broad interests and demonstrated capability to adapt and stay technically current
Demonstrated experience in the development of research partnerships across institutions and/or groups of researchers.
Strong program and project management skills and the ability to create the right structures and processes to ensure key project KPIs are met. Demonstrated ability to train and mentor key personnel in these skills.
Strong leadership and organizational development capabilities.
Independent thinker, decision maker and self-starter.
Demonstrated experience working in a highly matrixed organization
Ability to think and act strategically.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix-reporting environment.

Experience and knowledge in services domains such as business process outsourcing, transportation systems, healthcare systems and financial services is valued.
