As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve full-time in a partner public school, providing small-group and one-on-one academic support, mentoring, and classroom assistance. You will track student progress, reinforce core subjects like math and literacy, and help build students’ confidence and engagement. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll collaborate with teachers, participate in training and professional development, and promote an inclusive, socially just learning environment while growing your leadership skills. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects such as math and literacy Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Monitor and track student attendance, behavior, and academic progress Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Engage families and community partners as appropriate to support students Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive school climate Collaborate with AmeriCorps teammates to plan and deliver student support activities Maintain accurate records and report on student outcomes and service activities Academic tutoring (math and literacy) Classroom support and management Student mentoring and youth development Data tracking and progress monitoring Lesson reinforcement and homework help Communication with educators and families Culturally responsive practices Basic educational technology tools Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Background check clearance Experience working with youth in educational or community settings preferred Tutoring or mentoring experience preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
