As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Educational Services industry, you will serve in a partner public school to support student learning and growth. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll provide in-class tutoring, small-group instruction, and one-on-one mentoring to help students stay on track in core subjects. At City Year, a national nonprofit, you’ll join a diverse AmeriCorps team committed to social justice, leadership development, and personal growth. You will collaborate closely with teachers, lead enrichment activities, and track student progress while receiving training, coaching, and professional development to further your own career. Provide in-class academic tutoring in core subjects such as math and ELA Lead small-group and one-on-one sessions to reinforce classroom learning Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Collaborate with teachers to identify student needs and support lesson objectives Track and document student progress, attendance, and engagement data Support after-school or enrichment programs and homework help sessions Participate in City Year trainings, coaching, and professional development Engage families and school staff as partners in student success Promote an inclusive, respectful, and safe classroom environment Contribute to a collaborative AmeriCorps team culture focused on impact Academic tutoring in core subjects (math, English language arts) Classroom support and instruction techniques Student mentoring and youth development Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Behavior management and positive reinforcement strategies Communication with teachers, staff, and families Facilitation of small groups and activities Time management and organization in a school setting Cultural competency and inclusive practices Basic technology skills (email, documents, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident) Background check eligibility for working with youth Experience in tutoring or classroom support (preferred) Training in youth development or mentoring (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
