As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you will serve on a diverse team within public schools to support student success. You’ll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, reinforce classroom instruction, and help track student progress. You’ll also mentor students in social-emotional skills, model positive behavior, and assist with classroom activities and after-school programs. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with teachers, receive ongoing training and coaching, and grow your leadership skills while making a direct impact on students’ academic achievement and confidence. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support classroom instruction under the guidance of the teacher Mentor students to build social-emotional and study skills Monitor, record, and report students’ academic progress and attendance Assist with classroom management and create a positive learning environment Support enrichment and after-school programs and activities Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year teammates on student support plans Participate in ongoing professional development, training, and coaching Engage families and caregivers as appropriate to support student success Model City Year’s values of service, inclusion, and social justice Tutoring in math and literacy Classroom support and management Student mentoring and relationship-building Progress monitoring and basic data tracking Lesson and activity facilitation Communication with teachers and staff Cultural competency and inclusive practices Educational technology (e.g., learning platforms, virtual tools) Time management and organization Conflict resolution and de-escalation Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Completion of City Year AmeriCorps training Background check eligibility Experience with youth or education programs preferred Basic proficiency in educational technology platforms5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
