As an Academic Tutor and Mentor at City Year, you will serve in public schools to provide individualized and small-group academic support in core subjects, while fostering students’ social-emotional growth. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll collaborate with teachers to track student progress, support classroom activities, and lead enrichment and after‑school programs. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and behavior management Monitor and document student progress and engagement Lead or assist with enrichment and after-school programs Build positive, mentoring relationships with students Communicate regularly with school staff about student needs Support social-emotional learning activities Participate in City Year training and professional development Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to meet school goals Engage families and community partners when appropriate Tutoring and academic support Lesson and activity planning Classroom management support Student progress monitoring and data entry Basic educational technology use (e.g., Google Classroom, MS Office) Communication with students, families, and school staff Mentoring and youth development Time management and organization Cultural competence and working with diverse populations Facilitation of small groups and activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance City Year AmeriCorps member eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident) Background check clearance to work with students Experience in tutoring or youth mentoring preferred Training in classroom management (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
