AI Business Risk and Control Director

In this role you oversee Citi's AI risk and controls, ensuring AI deployments meet governance and regulatory standards across a global portfolio. You will shape the AI risk posture within the Non-Financial Risk function and lead high-impact risk oversight at senior levels. You will drive risk assessments, independent reviews, and escalation of material issues, while building a capable team and aligning with Citi's AI strategy. This is a strategic, senior leadership role at the forefront of governing AI at scale.

• Exercise delegated approval authority for AI use cases and assets, completing risk and controls assessments and providing first-line sign-off for high-risk deployments
• Lead independent risk-based reviews of pre-release testing, control design, residual risk, and approval conclusions prior to production
• Monitor performance against approved parameters, escalate control failures or unapproved activity to governance and risk teams
• Assess impact of new/changed AI use cases on processes and controls, routing material changes for reapproval
• Build and lead a high-performing AI risk and controls team with clear objectives and accountability
• Represent the AI risk and control function at executive forums, governance committees, and Board discussions
• Define and drive a multi-year roadmap for the AI risk and control framework aligned with Citi's strategy and regulatory landscape

• 15+ years in risk management/controls within a large global financial institution
• 8+ years in a senior management capacity across multiple disciplines
• Proven track record leading senior teams in a matrixed, global organization
• Deep knowledge of AI/ML risks, including Generative AI and Agentic AI, with controls for hallucination, drift, bias, and autonomy
• Ability to assess AI risk across development, testing, production, and decommissioning, and to challenge metrics and explainability reports
• Broad knowledge of AI governance frameworks, risk management policies, and AI regulation (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF)
• Strong influencing and communication skills to explain complex AI risk concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
