Amazon is looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon's long-term sustainability strategy. You will support Amazon's Worldwide Sustainability team in pursuing a wide range of sustainability initiatives. We aim to have a net-positive impact on the world through sustainability because it's good for the planet, for our business, for our customers, and for our communities.
Key job responsibilities
You will support Amazon's Worldwide Sustainability team by:
Evaluating, implementing, and scaling initiatives related to decarbonization, carbon neutralization, waste, and water usage, as well as Amazon's efforts toward the circular economy and more sustainable buildings, products, packaging, and transportation.
Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements for new transactional initiatives
Manage outside counsel relationships across multiple jurisdictions and develop scalable contract templates and processes.
Navigate emerging regulations and compliance requirements
Advise on the development of new products and services
Provide counsel on evolving climate finance mechanisms and sustainability standards
Provide strategic legal counsel on transactions and advise on strategy, policy, public relations, and regulatory issues around the globe related to new technologies and sustainability in our operations and our supply chain.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of legal experience
Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
Experience with commercial agreements and commercial transactions
Experience in Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Law
Experience with carbon credits or emissions trading or management of corporate carbon/waste/water footprints and legal support for carbon neutralization, renewable energy, circular economy, and supply chain sustainability initiatives a plus
Experience reviewing and advising on public-facing sustainability communications
Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
