New York, New York Direct Counsel is seeking a Consumer Litigation Staff Attorney to join the New York office of a nationally recognized Am Law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator seeking a hands-on role managing consumer litigation and arbitration matters on behalf of sophisticated financial institution clients. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of litigation experience, strong case management skills, and the ability to independently handle matters while working closely with partners and clients. This position offers meaningful responsibility, direct interaction with opposing counsel, and significant involvement in both litigation and settlement strategy. Responsibilities Litigation Management
Manage individual consumer litigation and arbitration matters from inception through resolution
Review correspondence, pleadings, and case filings
Monitor deadlines and maintain case calendars
Identify and escalate significant developments and urgent issues
Conduct document review and oversee case administration
Supervise local counsel and coordinate litigation strategy
Discovery & Motion Practice
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses
Conduct legal research and prepare substantive legal analyses
Manage written discovery and document production
Assist with depositions, hearings, and arbitration proceedings
Prepare matters for arbitration hearings and court appearances
Settlement & Resolution
Communicate regularly with opposing counsel regarding settlement discussions
Evaluate cases and prepare settlement recommendations for clients
Draft settlement agreements and related documentation
Support efficient resolution of consumer disputes
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active New York Bar membership in good standing
Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Confidence interacting directly with opposing counsel and clients
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling arbitration matters before JAMS or AAA
Experience representing financial institutions or commercial clients
Experience litigating claims involving consumer protection, banking, or privacy laws
Bankruptcy litigation experience, including adversary proceedings
