City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small group academic tutoring to students during and after school. Support classroom instruction alongside teachers to reinforce lessons and maintain engagement. Track and report student progress using basic data and documentation tools. Build positive, consistent relationships with students to support social-emotional growth. Help create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom and school environment. Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs and progress. Plan and facilitate enrichment, afterschool, or community-building activities. Participate in ongoing City Year and AmeriCorps training, coaching, and professional development. Model professionalism, reliability, and City Year’s values in school and community settings. Support school-wide events, initiatives, and service projects as needed.
