City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom management and instructional activities Build positive, trusting relationships with students as a mentor and role model Track and report student progress using provided tools and data systems Lead or assist with after-school programs, enrichment, and service projects Collaborate with teammates and school staff to support whole-school initiatives Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Engage families and community partners when appropriate Uphold City Year’s values, service standards, and AmeriCorps policies Tutoring and academic support (literacy and math) Classroom management support Youth development and mentoring Basic data entry and progress monitoring Facilitation of small groups Communication (written and verbal) Time management and organization Conflict resolution and de-escalation Cultural competency and equity-minded practice Basic technology skills (email, spreadsheets, online learning tools) Medical Insurance U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident Able to pass background checks required for working in schools AmeriCorps eligibility requirements Strong commitment to national service and social justice5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
