City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support to students in core subjects Offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring Support students’ social-emotional skill development and positive behavior Monitor attendance and help implement strategies to improve student engagement Assist with planning and leading after-school programs and enrichment activities Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year teammates to align support Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and leadership development sessions Track and document student progress and service activities Engage families and community partners in student support initiatives Uphold City Year’s values of inclusion, equity, and service in the school community Tutoring and academic support (reading, writing, math) Classroom support and management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress monitoring Communication (verbal and written) Team collaboration and conflict resolution Time management and organization Basic computer skills (Google Workspace or MS Office) Cultural competency and working with diverse communities Program facilitation for groups and after-school activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background check required for service in schools Demonstrated commitment to service, youth development, or education5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
