As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, providing targeted academic support and consistent mentorship to students. You’ll lead small-group tutoring, offer one-on-one coaching, and assist teachers with classroom activities that foster engagement and social-emotional growth. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll receive training, coaching, and professional development while contributing to an inclusive, justice-driven culture focused on student success and your own leadership growth. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects. Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and confidence. Support teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions. Track student progress and document academic and engagement data. Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates to plan supports. Engage families and community partners when appropriate. Participate in ongoing training, feedback, and professional development.
