City Year seeks an Academic Tutor and Mentor to support students’ success in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you’ll provide in-class and small-group tutoring in core subjects, mentor students to build confidence and social-emotional skills, and collaborate closely with teachers and school staff. You’ll track student progress, participate in ongoing training, and contribute to an inclusive, equity-focused school culture. This position offers hands-on experience in education, leadership development, and meaningful service within the Education, Training & E-Learning department. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Reinforce classroom instruction through small-group and one-on-one support Build positive, mentoring relationships to foster students’ social-emotional growth Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Collaborate with teachers and school staff to tailor supports to student needs Participate in training, coaching, and team meetings to improve practice Model professionalism, equity, and a commitment to social justice in schools Small-group instruction One-on-one tutoring Lesson reinforcement Classroom behavior support Progress monitoring Basic data entry Literacy support Math support Communication with educators Time management Teaching credential (preferred) Tutoring certification (preferred) Experience with AmeriCorps or service programs (preferred) Background check eligibility5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
