Overview

In this role you drive financial stewardship for the Surgical Services department, aligning budgets and capital use with patient-focused care. You'll collaborate with department leaders to optimize processes, assess cost/benefit for initiatives, and ensure adherence to project management standards. You'll engage with EPIC and inventory-related activities, while supporting cost savings and performance improvements. This is a mission-driven role within a large, inclusive healthcare system.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and evaluate business processes and operational initiatives for Surgical Services
  • Monitor capital allocations and conduct cost-benefit analyses
  • Provide financial reporting and budget preparation information
  • Implement and manage adherence to PMI project management methodology and related tools/policies
  • Maintain EPIC item files and updates for product conversions and standardizations
  • Participate in committees reviewing products for cost savings and functionality
  • Collaborate with leadership to research and evaluate cost-saving opportunities in supplies, instrumentation and equipment
  • Review project proposals with surgical leadership, prioritizing patient safety, SCIP measures, electronic documentation and best practices
  • Act as Tissue Facilitator for the Ministry and collaborate with Laboratory Services
  • Facilitate vendor services, including vendor tracking and instrument loaner tracking systems
  • Facilitate annual inventory of surgical supplies and implants
Key requirements
  • 5 years' experience working in surgical services
  • 5 years supervisory/management experience
  • 3 years operational performance improvement and/or project management experience
  • 3 years financial management experience or graduate level finance coursework
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (or equivalent experience)
