Basic Qualifications


Overview: Must be innovative and detail-oriented to support the development, improvement, and customization of products that meet customer and operational requirements. This role is responsible for creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software, while ensuring designs meet quality, manufacturability, and safety standards. The Design Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Procurement, and Quality, to bring designs from concept through production.


Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years' experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with PDM/PLM systems Hands-on experience with product development, prototyping, and engineering change processes

Knowledge :

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, assembly) Familiarity with engineering standards, tolerances, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Knowledge of product lifecycle management and documentation control processes

Skills :

Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software Skilled in creating accurate engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation Capable of analyzing designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance

Interpersonal :

Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external suppliers Ability to manage multiple design projects under tight deadlines Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving

Highly detail-focused with a commitment to accuracy and quality in design work Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion

General Responsibilities


The Design Engineer is responsible for developing product designs, engineering documentation, and technical solutions that meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and company standards. This includes creating and maintaining CAD models and drawings, supporting engineering change processes, collaborating with other departments to resolve design issues, and contributing to product innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.


Essential Duties


Develop detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and BOMs for new and existing products Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Quality to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability Apply GD&T and appropriate tolerances to all designs in compliance with industry standards Participate in product development from concept through production release Review and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) Conduct design reviews and provide technical input to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness Support prototype builds and testing to validate designs against specifications and requirements Maintain accurate and organized design files in PDM/PLM systems Provide technical support to manufacturing teams during product launch and production

General Duties

Participate with Engineering leadership in setting departmental design and development goals Abide by organizational policies and contribute to a respectful, compliant workplace Support internal policies for risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance
