POSITION SPECIFICS
The Singh Lab In the Department of Nutritional Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Research Technologist to support ongoing studies using Organoid Models. The successful candidate is expected to have experience with intestinal organoid models and will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a range of fundamental medical science techniques, contributing to both the experimental and operational aspects of the lab
In this role, the Research Technologist will contribute to establishing organoid models and to the design and execution of research projects by developing and conducting experiments, evaluating and refining methodologies, and supporting investigators in the effective use of laboratory techniques. The position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality data through careful collection, analysis, and reporting, while maintaining data integrity.
LOCATION
This position is located at the University Park Campus, in State College, PA. Due to the nature of the work full onsite presence is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish and maintain human intestinal organoid cultures from primary tissues or established lines, including crypt isolation, 3D matrix embedding, and long-term maintenance.
  • Optimize and standardize protocols for passaging, differentiation, and cryopreservation of intestinal organoids to ensure robust and reproducible model performance.
  • Design and execute in vitro intervention studies relevant to the lab's focus on nutrition and the gut microbiome (e.g., nutrients, microbial metabolites, probiotics, inflammatory mediators, pharmacologic agents).
  • Assist with dietary intervention studies in mouse models and helping to update IACUC and IBC protocols
  • Contribute to lab meetings, figure preparation, and documentation for manuscripts and grant reports
  • Execute and develop data collection procedures; record, correlate, and analyze data; prepare analysis summaries.
  • Contribute to the design of research methods; identify potential problems; recommend solutions and technical approaches for problem solving
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  • 1 year of previous laboratory research experience, with organoid models, is desired
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in data collection and record-keeping
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare summaries or reports

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
