As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve full-time in a public school, providing small-group and one-on-one academic support, mentoring, and social-emotional coaching to students. You’ll track student progress, assist teachers in the classroom, and lead enrichment and after-school activities. Working on a diverse team of AmeriCorps members, you’ll promote attendance, build positive relationships, and help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment while developing your own leadership and professional skills. Provide in-class and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Offer one-on-one mentoring and social-emotional support to students Support teachers with classroom activities and behavior management Monitor and document student progress and attendance Communicate regularly with school staff about student needs Help plan and lead after-school or enrichment programs Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate Participate in ongoing training and professional development Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to meet school goals Engage families and community partners when appropriate Tutoring in math and literacy Classroom support techniques Behavior management strategies Student progress monitoring Basic data entry and tracking Lesson and activity preparation Youth mentoring and coaching Communication with teachers and staff Cultural competency and DEI awareness Time management and organization Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member Background check clearance Experience with youth or tutoring preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
