Data Privacy Associate Attorney

A leading Southeastern law firm is seeking an ambitious Data Privacy Associate Attorney to join its expanding Data Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in working at the intersection of privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data governance, supporting sophisticated clients across a wide range of industries.

The role is primarily transactional and advisory in nature, focusing on regulatory counseling, privacy compliance, and technology-driven commercial matters. While the position is not litigation-focused, experience with data breach response is welcome.

Candidate Profile

  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction, in good standing
  • 2-4 years of substantive data privacy and cybersecurity experience in a sophisticated law firm setting
  • Experience advising on data privacy, data security, and technology-related matters
  • Background drafting and negotiating privacy and data security provisions in commercial and technology agreements
  • Familiarity with U.S. privacy laws and regulatory frameworks affecting commercial transactions
  • CIPP certification(s) preferred
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in business development activities, including speaking engagements and client-facing initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate data privacy and data security provisions in commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS, licensing, and other technology-related contracts
  • Advise clients on privacy compliance, data governance, and cybersecurity issues
  • Collaborate closely with partners and senior associates on day-to-day transactional privacy matters
  • Monitor and analyze developments in data privacy laws and regulations impacting commercial transactions
  • Assist with product and program development related to privacy and data security initiatives

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Expected base salary range of $190,000-$310,000, determined by experience and market factors
