City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects such as math and reading Support classroom instruction under the guidance of the partner teacher Mentor students to build positive relationships, attendance, and engagement in school Monitor and document student progress, using data to adjust tutoring strategies Assist with planning and facilitating enrichment, after-school, or homework support activities Promote students’ social-emotional learning and a positive classroom climate Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff to meet student goals Communicate regularly with supervisors about student needs and progress Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and leadership opportunities Support school-wide initiatives, events, and service projects as needed Tutoring in math and reading Classroom support Student mentoring Behavior management Data tracking and progress monitoring Lesson and activity planning support Youth development practices Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Basic educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, MS Office) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Background check clearance Experience with K-12 students (volunteer or paid) preferred Training in youth development or education (preferred) Bilingual skills in English and another language (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
