City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects to K–12 students Support classroom instruction through targeted practice activities and homework help Mentor students by building positive, consistent relationships that promote social-emotional growth Monitor, track, and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align tutoring with classroom goals Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage in school-wide activities, events, and service projects Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices that support equity and social justice Communicate regularly with City Year team members and supervisors Uphold City Year and school policies regarding professionalism, safety, and confidentiality Academic tutoring (ELA & math) Lesson reinforcement Classroom support Student mentoring Behavior management Data tracking and progress monitoring Small-group instruction Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Communication with teachers and staff Cultural competence and DEI awareness Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Background check and eligibility to work in schools Commitment to a full-time service term (typically 10–11 months) Experience with youth, tutoring, or mentoring preferred Strong interest in education, social justice, and community service5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
