City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects (e.g., math, English) during and after school Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers, reinforcing lesson objectives Mentor students to build positive relationships, confidence, and engagement in school Monitor student attendance, behavior, and coursework, and help implement support strategies Assist with planning and leading enrichment, after-school, or intervention activities Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to meet school and student support goals Communicate regularly with school staff about student progress and needs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices aligned with City Year’s values Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, interventions, and student outcomes Academic tutoring in core subjects (math, English/language arts) Lesson reinforcement and curriculum support Classroom management support Student mentoring and youth development Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Communication with teachers and school staff Culturally responsive and inclusive practices Organization and time management Basic educational technology tools (e.g., Google Workspace, learning platforms) Group facilitation for small-group and after-school activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Some roles may require eligibility for AmeriCorps service Background check clearance for working with youth Experience working with K-12 students (volunteer or paid) preferred Training in youth development or education (can be on-the-job)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
