The Senior Respiratory Care Practitioner is an experienced RRT who provides advanced respiratory care, including ventilator management, intubation support, ECMO, and specialized pulmonary diagnostics in critical care areas. This role serves as a clinical resource and mentor, helps coordinate respiratory therapy activities, supports physicians during complex procedures, ensures safe equipment use, and contributes to quality, education, and process-improvement initiatives within the respiratory care team. Perform and oversee advanced respiratory care procedures, including ventilator management, intubation support, and specialized pulmonary diagnostics in critical care areas. Serve as primary therapist for advanced treatments such as ECMO, EBUS, and electromagnetic navigation, assisting physicians during complex procedures. Guide, mentor, and precept respiratory therapists and students, providing clinical teaching and supporting orientation and in-service education. Troubleshoot, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance and quality control on respiratory equipment, documenting actions and reporting malfunctions. Assess patients, deliver appropriate respiratory treatments, and provide education to patients and families, adapting teaching to their needs. Coordinate activities within the respiratory department when assigned, including acting in the absence of a team lead or coordinator. Accurately document all respiratory care and related charges in the appropriate systems, ensuring completeness and timeliness. Participate in quality, safety, and process-improvement initiatives and contribute to department committees or subcommittees.
