Encompass Health is seeking a Floor Care Specialist to support a safe, healing environment in our inpatient rehabilitation hospital. In this role, you will perform specialized floor care, including stripping, waxing, burnishing, machine scrubbing, and carpet care in patient rooms, therapy areas, and public spaces. You’ll follow infection prevention standards, use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, and respond promptly to spills and hazards. Working closely with nursing and support staff, you help maintain a clean, professional facility that supports patient mobility, safety, and overall recovery. Perform routine and deep floor care, including stripping, waxing, burnishing, and machine scrubbing of hard floors. Provide carpet care, including extraction, spot cleaning, and routine maintenance in patient and public areas. Follow infection prevention and hospital environmental services protocols to reduce risk of contamination. Operate and maintain floor care equipment such as auto-scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors safely. Handle and store cleaning chemicals properly, adhering to label instructions and safety data sheets. Respond promptly to spills and floor hazards to reduce slip, trip, and fall risks for patients and staff. Coordinate with nursing, therapy, and support departments to schedule cleaning with minimal disruption. Complete daily assignments, logs, and checklists accurately and on time. Report equipment issues, supply needs, and safety concerns to supervisors promptly. Support a mission-driven, patient-centered culture through professional, courteous interaction with patients and staff.
