Job SummaryThe Maintenance Mechanic III is a highly skilled position that requires mid to expert level skills. Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Technician III will carry out a wide range of troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on sand plant equipment and systems. Will help mentor and train junior technicians to grow in their roles.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Must be self-directed and able to independently perform a wide range of troubleshooting and repairing of sand plant equipment and systems.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair plant machinery.
- Contributes to the development and training of lower-level technicians.
- Performs routinely scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment and systems.
- Position requires exceptional attendance record.
- Follows all lockout/tagout procedures.
- Works independently on advanced projects and has the ability to plan out such projects.
- Able to take all production calls and has the knowledge to determine priority of repairs.
- Must be proficient in the use of CMMS (FIIX) system.
- Must be able to proficiently weld and fabricate.
- Coaches, mentors, and trains less experienced mechanics.
- Able to work planned and unplanned hours in support of a 24/7 plant operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibits a positive attitude for team members to emulate.
- Must have excellent decision-making skills.
- Meet deadlines of individual tasks during shift
- Work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
- Perform duties safely and responsibly while always observing all MSHA safety guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician at a sand plant
Skills And Ability Expectations- Mid to expert maintenance skills sufficient to troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on sand plant equipment and systems.
- Must be able to change bearings, change conveyors, and splice conveyors with no supervision.
- Basic computer skills
- Familiar with MSHA standards
- Must have the ability to read blue prints/schematics.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license

- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area.
- Must be able to work under various temperatures ranging from typical 10 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
