City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to students in core subjects Support classroom instruction through small-group and one-on-one interventions Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs Lead or support enrichment, homework help, and after-school activities Build positive, mentoring relationships that promote student engagement Model professionalism, social justice, and inclusive practices Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with team members and supervisors on student progress Support school-wide events and initiatives as needed Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Small-group instruction Classroom management Student data tracking and progress monitoring Lesson and activity planning Behavioral intervention strategies Use of educational technology and online platforms Written and verbal communication Collaboration with teachers and school staff Basic reporting and documentation Bachelor’s degree preferred but H.S.
