City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects during and after school Support classroom teachers by reinforcing lessons and assisting with instructional activities Build positive relationships with students as a mentor and role model Monitor, document, and report on student progress and engagement Help manage classroom behavior using positive, proactive strategies Plan and facilitate enrichment, homework help, and study sessions Communicate regularly with teachers and team members about student needs Support school-wide events, activities, and attendance initiatives Participate in ongoing City Year training, coaching, and professional development Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on student success Subject-matter tutoring (math, ELA, or related core subjects) Lesson and activity planning Youth mentoring and relationship building Classroom and behavior management strategies Data entry and progress monitoring Basic educational technology tools (e.g., Google Workspace, learning platforms) Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Team collaboration in school settings Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Previous tutoring, teaching assistant, or youth mentoring experience preferred Completion of background check and clearance to work with youth Experience in urban or under-resourced school settings a plus Training in behavior management or youth development preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
